Knollwood Partners, LLC was formed in 2003 by Frank S. Castellana, M.D., Eng.Sc.D. and James G. Ham, M.B.A., and Nan Hutchinson, M.B.A. Dr. Castellana, Mr. Ham and Ms. Hutchinson each have over twenty years of senior management experience in the pharmaceutical and medical products industries.
Frank S. Castellana, M.D., Eng.Sc.D.

Dr. Castellana was a senior executive at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Divisions, including Vice President of Franchise Development and Strategic Planning in the Worldwide Medicines Group, Senior Vice-President Science and Technology and President Infection and Contamination Control at the ConvaTec Division, and Director of Medical and Regulatory Affairs at Squibb Diagnostics. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers, he was Associate Professor of Chemical and Bioengineering at Columbia University, and Director of the Biomedical Engineering Center at St. Luke’s Hospital Center. Dr. Castellana received his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his Eng.Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University.

Ms. Weir is a partner of Knollwood Partners. She was previously Vice-President & Chief Marketing Officer with Alpharma Pharmaceuticals. Pamela brings over 20 years of diverse pharmaceutical experience and a proven track record of building successful brands & setting strategies for corporate growth. She has extensive leadership and launch experience in global & U.S. markets, with primary care, hospital & specialty products, across multiple functions: Brand Management, Global Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Marketing Operations, Sales, Business Development & Communications as well as numerous therapeutic areas: acute & chronic pain, respiratory, thrombosis, CV, CNS, ED, anti-infectives & anti-arthritics. Pamela has led multiple high performance teams, including U.S. commercial organizations, with experience building new departments and processes as well as re-engineering existing functions.
James G. Ham, M.B.A.

Mr. Ham was VP Finance/CFO for Clearview Projects, a consulting company which provided business development / licensing support to the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. At Clearview, Jim was responsible for the financial analysis/valuation support for all deal activities and also General Accounting, HR and IT. Prior to joining Clearview, Jim was a senior executive at Bristol-Myers Squibb and spent 24 years in various positions of increasing responsibility, principally in Finance and IT, including Vice President IT Global Business Services and Senior Director Finance for the US Pharmaceutical Group.
Tom McKenna, M.B.A.

Mr. McKenna is an Associate Consultant with Knollwood Partners. With over 20 years of pharmaceutical and 25 years of business experience, Tom has broad-based experience and demonstrated success in finance, sales, marketing, insurance, managed health care, disease management and other functions. He has led a number of company and industry-wide strategy and transformation initiatives and is recognized for defining and operationalizing strategy, addressing complex business issues, leading large, diverse groups and projects, and driving productivity and operating improvements. Tom received his M.B.A. from Temple University.
Andrea McGruther

Having worked in the market research industry for close to 30 years, Andrea has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, and in a broad range of methodologies and analytic techniques. During the span of her career, which includes research management positions at Opinion Research Corporation and Total Research Corporation (now Harris Interactive), and others, she has held responsibility for virtually all aspects of the market research process. She has gained particular expertise and recognition for qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and while at TRC, she led a Process Improvement Team whose mission was to evaluate and improve the analysis process and enhance the value of deliverables to clients. A partial list of therapeutic areas in which Andrea has expertise includes: Respiratory Disease (COPD, asthma), mental Illness (depression, schizophrenia), cardiovascular disease (high cholesterol, hypertension, heart disease), Alzheimer’s Disease, Women’s Health (osteoporosis, HRT), Men’s Health (erectile dysfunction), Diabetes, Arthritis, and Migraine. Andrea’s experience also includes market research concerning managed care and formulary issues, product concept testing, tracking message communication in product detail efforts and DTC advertising, image and customer satisfaction research, domestic and international research, multivariate techniques such as segmentation, PLS, conjoint analysis and discrete choice.
